Four Warriors Run at Large Meet in Illinois

Rock Island, IL -- With over 1000 runners from five different states on hand, four Indian Hills athletes took part in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana University on Friday.

Three of the four Warrior runners had their fastest time of the year over the 8K course.

Leading the quartet of IHCC competitors was freshman Colter Hentzel who cut nearly a minute off his  previous best time, running 29:06.

Tyler Walker, another freshman, was second for IHCC with a personal-best time of 30:12.  Freshman Ray Quiroz ran 31:30 and sophomore Zakk Ellingson finished in 35:08, over two minutes better than his fastest time before Friday.

"This is our fifth meet of the year," said IHCC coach Jim Streeby, "and the top three men have really been fun to watch battle between each other.  They work hard and race hard.  So far, Colter Hentzel has the fastest time (the 29:06 he ran Friday), and he's been on top for two races between the three runners."

Quiroz has two victories and Walker one in the team competition.

Streeby added, "We are halfway through the season so there is plenty of time to become fitter.  It will be fun to see who is going to make the biggest improvement."

Indian Hills will compete in the Dan Huston Invitational on Oct. 6.
